Is there a Method to this madness?

Just attended the Natural Products Expo West. Which, by the way, I LOOVE. I love seeing what's coming out, what products are trending and what seems to be trending more and more is organic, natural, minimally processed and sustainably sourced. That is all good news.

Summer is almost over..but here in sunny California, there is always need for sun protection. Here are some of my favorite products that I have been using all summer:

Face regimen

I've been changing up my face cleaning regimen lately. Well, just my night time ritual. I used to clean my face and apply a moisturizer, be it oil, a balm or cream. A while back I had read a blog post by Josh Rosebrook where he talks about not using water to cleanse the skin. Or at least not oil AND water because that doesn't work. It made sense to me, but then again, I continued to use my oil and wash off with water. I know it doesn't quite wash it off because water doesn't do that. But I also wasn't willing to just "wash off" with my hydrosol because frankly, it costs a lot of money.

Toothpaste!...And then some

It was my intention to post on some toothpaste brands that I am currently fond of...until I found the ingredient list to the most recent one that I bought - Auromere, and found that it contains Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS)!  Ummm...according to Dr. Mercola:

Update on the baking soda and ACV

Well, so I've been on the baking soda and ACV for the past few weeks and was convinced that I didn't have dandruff.  But, alas, I still do.  I can't see it but my husband can.  Booo.

I'm sure if I persevere my head pH could probably normalize

Conscious vs. Convenience

Isn't there just a fine line between the two in parenting?  For instance, I know that eating at home is far more healthier for us than going out to eat.  However, we love going out to eat plus it's just more convenient sometimes to run out to get a bite rather than, prepping, cooking, cleaning...

The sis and I just went to this great event last night put on by La Bella Figura called A Night For Green Beauty.  Wow!  I wish they would have this every season!  It was so awesome to be surrounded by all these great non-toxic, earth conscious beauty brands.

Sunscreens

Summer is a'comin!  But, we stock and generously use sunscreen EVERY DAY.  I don't use a tinted moisturizer with SPF.  I literally slather my face with sunBLOCK every day and I don't let D leave the house without putting sunblock on her face.  She pretty much always has "white face".  I am obsessed!

Safe cosmetics

My box of goodies just arrived!  Have you heard of Beautycounter?  This brand just launched in February.  A friend of mine turned me onto it as they were outreaching for possible sales consultants for the brand.  Their sales model follows that of Avon so person-to-person.

I ordered the Anytime Eye Cream (since I am always on the lookout for something that will rid me of my wrinkles), the Routine Clean Cream Cleanser (coconut oil base!) and the Every Day AM Hydrating Cream (always need some good hydration in the mornings...which is why I drink a glass of water first thing in the morning).
