"Go to your room"...or "Time-out"

Yesterday, D and I were playing Hide and Go Seek in the hotel room.  She specifically said that I was not to peer over anything that was white (ie, the bed, the comforter, the pillow).  We played that for a bit.  But then her last hiding place was to the side of bed such that if I were walking toward her from the sliding glass door, I technically would not walk past it to peer because it's white.

When you are born of fire...

When you are born of fire, it's very difficult to be all warm fuzzies all the time.  When D was young, I had a lot of fire and I did not make any attempts to hide it.  I am who I am..though I must admit, there were times when I lost my temper and then regretted it because, after all, she was just a baby doing baby things.

Washington Initiative 522

Washington Initiative 522 is being voted on today.  I came across this article on MotherJones.com, a great site, by the way and was so inspired (I think maybe "charged up" would be the more appropriate term).

Initiative 522 is about the labeling of GMO foods.  This would be great for the consumer as there is so much hidden from us already.  Waiting with bated to breath to see what the outcome will be.

But back to the article!  I found this to be an exceptional article on an exceptional man.  I mean, who wouldn't fall in love with a man who (to quote the article)...campaigns to legalize hemp and marijuana, clean up fair trade and organic standards, and combat income inequality. Activism and charitable donations consume about half of the company's healthy profits.

I literally came home and announced, "I want to move to Carlsbad and work for Dr. Bronners!"

My idea was shot down.  Oh well.  In the meantime, I will just support the company by purchasing its products and internet stalk David Bronner.

Witchie poo

Yesterday was Halloween.  I had been pondering and pondering how to make D's witch costume.  I had the fabric and I was going to just make the same simple summer dress that I always make...but then I came across this tutorial from Once Upon a Sewing Machine and thought this would be the perfect pattern for her costume!

Well, it kind of was, but in making this dress
