The Nut Milk Bag

I'd been seeking out an alternative to cheesecloth for making my almond milk.  Cheesecloth cannot be recycled and that pains me.  Enter the Nut Milk Bag!  I bought this one and love it.

In fact, I've found another good use for my nut milk bag.  I now process my green juices in my blender and filter out the fiber through the bag.  I love it.  It works great.

Introducing Math in Waldorf

A peek into my WISC teacher training.  In first grade, numbers and letters are introduced in Waldorf schools.  What resonated with me is:

They introduce the biggest number first.  What is the biggest number?  The biggest number is 1.

Graceful Confidence

A Refinery29 post came into my inbox via my sister (who often keeps me updated to goings-ons by forwarding just the good stuff to me) the other day.  I LOVED the video from the post.  May all little girls have this little girl's sass!

What struck me when watching this, however, is the palpable pause that is in the little girl's response when she is recanting that "a little boy called me....(pause)...ugly."  You can tell it hurt her and it even hurts her to say the word.  It IS an ugly word!

But what a beautiful response she had and I'm glad she's able to walk away and laugh about it. I wonder what my daughter would've said...I know for certain she would have a retort.  I'm not sure it would've been as graceful.  My girl's got fire in her.

Parenting Tip..from a child?

I've posted before where I am wondering, "Who's the parent here?" Sometimes, it's hard to decipher...the other day the babe had a play date over.  A lovely little girl that just has such a sweet nature. She came over to me after a couple hours play and said, "D is being mean to me."

My reply: "Oh?"  And by the way, D is always mean to her friends when they are over here for a play date.  She gets mad about something and just is not able to redirect herself.

Coconut Oil

Well...I've been a fan of coconut oil.  There was that one time I quickly jumped on the oil pulling craze.  I actually went a week without actually brushing my teeth!  And then I came to my senses. However, I DO believe oil pulling definitely works. Prior to my oil pull stint, every time I went to see the dentist he would comment on plaque on my lower teeth.  After my oil pull obsession, at my last dentist appointment the dentist commented that my teeth looked good!  No comment on plaque.

Natural Foods Expo

I recently had the chance to attend the Natural Food Expo in Anaheim.  This is a really large show!  It covered two floors and several other rooms as well.  It's nice to see so much natural, organic product out there.
