For the past few weeks, I have really seen the fruits of my parenting with conviction. What I mean by that is there are certain things that I just don't waiver from when I am saying, "No" to things. For instance, when it comes to food. That is a BIG one for me. I cannot stand when children don't eat the food that is placed in front of them. Ever since D has been eating, I have firmly said that she has to eat whatever is on her plate except for maybe olives and onions which she has indicated that she does not like and I think that is fair.

The student as teacher?
A few days ago, the hubs and I had a bit of a scuffle. I basically came home and got in a huff about something. I guess I raised my voice and he got mad, back and forth, back and forth. Well, I calmed down and apologized for raising my voice but he was still miffed. At one point, he asked the babes, "Was mom yelling?"

Peace & Connection
True to my Internet ADHD, I got sidetracked the other day...who knows what I was looking for, usually it's looking up articles that journalists have written and I came across this lovely post from ohh, 2015.

The 6-year old challenge
My child is a 6-year old challenge. We've been having quite a bit of back talk from her, general not listening and a lot of hot flashes. Well, it all sort of came to a head when we spent a good 10 days with the family. The cousins, there are two that sort of flank D on both ends - one is 6 one is 9. Both girls listen quite well...and D doesn't so much or at least she hasn't been lately.

Act, Don't React
Well...it's been a while since I've written. Didn't mean to get so far behind but life can get craaazzy sometimes.
Anyhooo, "Act, Don't React" was a quote I got from my Yogi Tea a few weeks back. At the time, I read it and thought, "Wow. That is really pertinent right now." That morning, I had had a not so pretty incident with the babes and wanting her to do something that she wasn't willing to do. I had already looked back upon the incident and saw how I could've approached the situation in a more positive way, and was feeling kind of bad and kind of guilty...and then I get this quote. Wow, right?

Nighttime Rituals
My girlfriend has been doing this with her daughters since the oldest one was about 4 years old. I'd always thought it was such a good ritual, yet never found the time to do it myself...until now.

Why don't we...How about...
Yesterday, I found the perfect scenario of how I could've approached a conversation with D in a better way. Remember I had posted previously about this "battle of the wills"? I often hear myself speaking to D and really wish I had not used the words I used.
